Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon, just a 10-minute drive from the guesthouse, offers a fantastic environment with magical water that changes colour depending on the position of the sun. The lagoon is a mixture of fresh and saltwater as the river flows into the ocean.

Located just a short 10-minute drive from our guesthouse, the Blue Lagoon is a natural wonder that should be on any visitor’s must-see list while in Jamaica. The lagoon offers a unique and magical environment with water that changes colour depending on the angle of the sun. It is a mixture of fresh and saltwater created by the river that flows into the ocean, resulting in varying temperatures that can be felt when taking a dip in the water.

Visitors can indulge in a natural spa experience as the hot water from the Caribbean Sea and the cold water from the underground sources blend seamlessly. The lagoon is surrounded by beautiful greenery, making it one of the most picturesque places to visit. A boat tour, kayak or bamboo raft can take you to Monkey Island, a small uninhabited island where visitors can enjoy the stunning views of the Blue Lagoon Villas.

One of the unique features of Monkey Island is a small beach where visitors can create a natural spa treatment using the clay found in the surrounding area. Rubbing the clay all over the body, and allowing it to dry in the sun before rinsing it off with crystal-clear water is a truly unique experience. While at Monkey Island, visitors can also take a break from kayaking and swim around the island, as it is one of the best snorkelling spots in the area, boasting a beautiful coral reef and the opportunity to see turtles.

It is worth noting that the swim-up bar is located at the Blue Lagoon and not on Monkey Island. Visitors to Monkey Island are advised to bring their own drinks if they wish to enjoy them while swimming in the pristine waters around the island.

In addition, the Blue Lagoon has a rich history in free diving, as the record for the deepest free dive in Jamaica was set here. A visit to the Blue Lagoon and Monkey Island is an opportunity to explore the natural beauty and history of Jamaica, offering a chance to relax and unwind in a serene and tranquil atmosphere while surrounded by the stunning natural landscape.
